Warren County
Warren County is composed of 22 municipalities, all of
which are rural or suburban, except for Phillipsburg,
Hackettstown, Belvidere, and Washington Boro and
Townships which are urban in character. Warren County
leads New Jersey in the production of dairy cattle,
milk, eggs, feed corn, and alfalfa. In addition, farm
markets, wineries and "boutique" growers are
expanding. Warren County occupies 365 square miles with
rugged scenic terrain. Mountain ranges and ridges that
divide the county's fertile river valleys include
Kittatinny Mountain, Jenny Jump Mountain, Scott's
Mountain, and Pohatcong Mountain. The Musconetcong
River, Paulinskill River, and Pequest River empty into
the Delaware River which has 52 miles of county shore
line.
Among Warren County's greatest resources are clean air,
clean water, open spaces for resident families and
visitor recreation. With only about 14 % of its area
covered by urban development, Warren County offers a
great deal of wholesome outdoor recreation including
biking, hiking, rafting, swimming, horseback riding, and
more.
Warren County also has community parks, pools, country
inns, five (5) golf courses plus some golf driving
ranges and miniature golf courses and six (6)

with farms that offer fresh pickings of vegetables and

recreational attraction for children. The Pequest Trout
Hatchery, where all of the brook, brown, and rainbow
trout stocked by the State of New Jersey are raised, is
another popular attraction.
Belvidere is the county seat. Temperatures in Warren
County average 70 degrees in the summer and 29 degrees

the county opening the area to many new residents who
commute daily to their jobs in Metropolitan New
Jersey. Routes 46, 57, 31, 519, and 517 provide
commuters with access to other parts of the state. The
proximity of Warren County to New York, Philadelphia,

life that the county offers, makes it an attractive area
for homes and businesses.
